Josh is a Founding Partner of Avodah Legal. He represents businesses, founders, and senior executives — including C-suite leaders and Section 16 officers — in high-stakes matters where the outcome shapes what comes next for the person and the company. His practice sits at the intersection of government-facing work, business disputes, and executive employment matters, with experience spanning federal investigations, defense contracting, and complex litigation.

  • Many of Josh’s client relationships are long-term and advisory in nature – serving as counsel to business owners and leadership teams on an ongoing basis. When those relationships produce high-stakes moments, Josh has courtroom and negotiating experience to match – he has served as lead or co-counsel in more than 70 matters across multiple jurisdictions and industries, including negotiating executive transitions and compensation arrangements, defending individuals and organizations in investigations, and advising companies through litigation that threatens operations or reputation. Clients come to him when the stakes are high and the path forward isn't obvious.

Josh has been recognized multiple times by Virginia Business Magazine as part of its Legal Elite and has been quoted by NPR, CNN Money, and regional media outlets on legal and regulatory issues.

Josh earned his J.D. from Regent University School of Law, where he competed on the National Moot Court Team and received Best Brief and Regional Champion honors at the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition. He lives in Chesapeake with his wife and four sons and serves as an elder at a multi-site church in Virginia Beach.
