Chris has spent over a decade advising small and medium-sized businesses on complex corporate and regulatory matters. Chris brings an innovative, business-focused mindset to every matter, whether serving as an advisor on a complex M&A transaction or acting as outside general counsel for clients ranging from emerging startups to established operating companies.

  • Chris specializes in shepherding companies through every stage of growth. His experience includes:

    • M&A and Finance: Overseeing mergers and acquisitions for both buyers and sellers, fund formation, and leading venture capital rounds from Series Seed through Series B.

    • Outside General Counsel: Navigating dozens of complex corporate structurings, managing  compliance risk for a FINRA regulated broker-dealer, negotiating high-stakes commercial contracts for companies of all sizes, and serving as a strategic advisor on the legal consequences of business decisions to senior management at companies of all sizes.

    • Privacy & Data Security: As an IAPP-certified privacy professional, he provides strategic counsel on the evolving legal landscape of cybersecurity and data privacy.

    Chris earned his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Journal of Global Law and Business. He also holds a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech.

    Outside the Office Chris and his wife, Liz, live in the Bryan Park neighborhood in the Northside of Richmond with their two children and pretentiously named cat, Lord Nelson. When not working, Chris can be found cooking with his wife, being a dad to his kids, enjoying an evening with friends, reading, or sailing his Cape Dory Typhoon, Scout.
